AIA NC - Countdown to 2030
The built environment is the single largest source of global greenhouse gas emissions—making our industry a key player in the fight against climate change. As identified by Architecture 2030 in 2006 and adopted by the AIA 2030 Commitment, 2030 is a pivotal deadline for emissions reductions. This course charts the Countdown to 2030: where we started, where we stand, and how we accelerate toward a zero-carbon future. Attendees will explore built environment climate targets, celebrate industry progress, and discuss the path to 2030 and a decarbonized built environment. Key topics include balancing embodied and operational carbon, the power of building reuse, and the role of traditional knowledge in decarbonization. Join us to gain actionable insights and be part of the movement shaping a zero carbon built environment.

AIA NC - Framework for Discussing Resilience in North Carolina
The Western Section of North Carolina faced unprecedented damage to structures, and infrastructure and suffered loss of life due to weather conditions which have been forecast for more than three decades due to abuse of the environment.
Combined with years of development and building practices that allowed short cuts that were risky even during the best of times, it is projected that North Carolina will continue to suffer if action is not taken immediately. Architects have been at the forefront of pressing for stronger codes and more resilience.
This program is intended to provide members with a common language to express concerns and tools to address the problems, which is essential for the future health, safety, and welfare of all within our State.
