The Western Section of North Carolina faced unprecedented damage to structures, and infrastructure and suffered loss of life due to weather conditions which have been forecast for more than three decades due to abuse of the environment.
Combined with years of development and building practices that allowed short cuts that were risky even during the best of times, it is projected that North Carolina will continue to suffer if action is not taken immediately. Architects have been at the forefront of pressing for stronger codes and more resilience.
This program is intended to provide members with a common language to express concerns and tools to address the problems, which is essential for the future health, safety, and welfare of all within our State.
